A few words from our vicar
Dearly beloved in Christ,
A very happy New Year to all of you.
“He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he
Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the Lord shall
renew their strength,
they shall mount up with wings
they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint.”
As we enter into a new year, let us look back with gratitude to the many blessings we enjoyed in 2016.We are into the last four months of our time with this parish. Time flies! It seems but yesterday that you received us at Dulles
airport. We are thankful for the fellowship we received from all of you. Some of you have taken extra pain and eff ort to take care of us. We are grateful. May God bless and reward you richly.
The verses from Isaiah quoted above were spoken to a discouraged people of God. After 39 chapters of woes and judgments, the 40th chapter begins with the
words “Comfort, comfort my people says the Lord----”
We are called to wait upon the Lord. This is something we are not used to. We live in an “instant age.” We are not a patient people. In a fast paced age the call to wait and watch is not popular. Yet God in His timeless wisdom has instituted meditation and quiet contemplation as the means to receive blessings.
